Sadly, with the onset of each swimming season we hear tragic stories of toddler pool injuries or death. Everyone wants their children to be safe, so if you have a pool there are certain precautions you can take to make sure your family avoids such a horrible occurrence. If you have a pool but don't have children, you also bear a responsibility to ensure that your pool area is safe and secure as well. Always know where your children are, and keep them in your line of sight. If you need to go indoors to use the bathroom or answer the phone, bring the children with you. Never leave a child unattended near a pool! Second, place barriers between your home and the pool. Lock all doors to the outside when you're inside, and install a self locking fence that's nearly solid all around (or at least with openings no one can fit through).
